The Melton South Football and Netball Club, known as the Panthers, is a significant Australian rules football and netball club based in Melton, established in 1972 and currently competing in the Ballarat Football League. It has a history of notable players such as Sean Denham, Ben Haynes, and Paul Chambers, and achieved a notable premiership in the Riddell District Football League in 1994. The club is a cornerstone of the local sports community, embodying tradition, competition, and camaraderie.

History

The Melton South Football and Netball Club, affectionately known as the Panthers, is a proud Australian rules football and netball institution situated in Melton. Established in 1972, the club initially competed in the Riddell District Football League. Following the merger of the Bacchus Marsh FL and the Ballarat & District FL, the club, along with its cross-town rival Melton, opted to join the Riddell District Football League.

In 1997, due to restructuring, the stronger clubs from the Riddell District Football League, including Melton South, transitioned to the Ballarat Football League, where they continue to thrive today.

Throughout its history, the club has been home to notable football talents such as Sean Denham, Ben Haynes, and Paul Chambers.

In terms of achievements, the Panthers secured a premiership in the Riddell District Football League in 1994, showcasing the club’s competitive spirit and dedication to excellence on the field.

The Melton South Football and Netball Club embodies a rich tradition of community, competition, and camaraderie, making it a cherished cornerstone of the local sports landscape.
